The idea for the LSM program came from industry—from Dr. Roy Vagelos specifically, who from his own illustrious career as a scientist and corporate executive identified the need for an undergraduate program that merges the study of bioscience and business. As Dr. Vagelos recognized, the students of today who want to develop and promote the breakthroughs of tomorrow must be able to understand not only the demands of bench science but also the principles of management. LSM students get a foundation in both of these areas through course work, as well as through summer internship experiences in business and laboratory settings.
