Given the vast array of student groups on-campus, students often have trouble narrowing their choices of activities. There are over 400 active student groups to choose from! If a group you are interested in does not yet exist, the process of starting a new group is simple and fun!

Perelman Quadrangle is the complex consisting of Houston Hall, Irvine Auditorium, Logan Hall, Williams Hall, and Wynn Commons. Many meeting rooms and student organizations' offices are located there. Houston Hall, located at 34th and Spruce Streets, boasts Houston Market, a retail dining area, as well as the Video Vault, a DVD rental store. Other conveniences of Houston Hall include a transit stop for Penn Transit Services, a PNC Bank ATM maching, vending machines, change machines, and photocopy machines. Irvine Auditorium, at the corner of 34th and Spruce Streets, hosts an array of performances and events; Logan Hall, 36th Street between Spruce Street and Locust Walk, houses the Terrace Room; and Williams Hall, 36th and Spruce Street and Locust Walk, includes the Silfen Study Center. Wynn Commons, the center of Perelman Quad, has a scenic amphitheater and rostrum.

Registered student, University, and outside organizations may reserve the various rooms in Perelman Quadrangle for meetings or special events by completing an online reservation request form.

The various student groups on-campus are organized through the Office of Student Life (OSL). OSL seeks to provide a range of co-curricular experiences designed to supplement students’ classroom experience and contribute significantly to their personal development.

At Penn, about 30% of the students participate in Greek Life. Greek life is guided through a partnership between the University community, the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs (OFSA), the undergraduate members, the alumni volunteers, and the national headquarters. The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs offers numerous resources for individual chapter members, officers and entire chapters. OFSA works in partnership with national organizations as well as other University offices to ensure the highest quality of programming and services for its students.

The Platt Student Performing Arts house is home to the Performing Arts Council (PAC) which is organized into four subcommittees: Dance, Theatre, A Cappella, and Singers Musicians and Comedians (which also includes spoken word). They also offer training workshops, master classes, alumni programs, a summer theatre internship scholarship, as well as resources on the performing arts in Philadelphia.

Penn offers four distinct Pre-orientation programs featuring leadership, outdoor, community service or arts experiences. New students may apply to Pennacle, PennQuest, PennCorp or PennArts to gain meaningful experiences and build connections to fellow classmates in a more intimate setting. All programs are led by upper-class students and involve a selection process. Please visit the website to learn more.
