Wednesday, August 29
Transfer Student
Welcome Center

11am-2pm
1st Floor Lobby, Houston Hall
Stop by our table to let us know that you have arrived on campus. Meet the Transfer Coordinators and PHINS, pick up orientation materials, and sign up for various events. This table will be located near the Student Services Expo where you can take care of all your needs through Campus Express.
Parent and Family Orientation
2pm-3:30pm
Class of 1949 Auditorium,
Houston Hall
Current students who also transferred to Penn, along with staff and parents, will make a brief presentation followed by a question and answer session. Light refreshments will be served.

MandatoryTransfer Credit Advising
2pm-2:30pm
Room 17, Logan Hall

This general advising session is led by the Director of Transfer Credit, Mark Shank. It will provide you with guidelines and information which will assist you before meeting with your academic advisor.

Diane Frey, the Transfer Student Advocate, will lead a discussion on the College's policies, procedures, degree requirements, and curricular options. This session is required for incoming transfer students to the College.

Come meet your fellow transfer students, the Transfer Coordinators and PHINS, and University Faculty and staff. Topics to be discussed include this week's schedule, advising overview, safety, and campus activities.

The Academic Advisors in the College will be available to meet transfer students and help plan their first semester schedules.
MandatoryOrientation at the School of Engineering
10am-12pm
Room 108, Towne Building
Learn what it takes to succeed in Engineering. The procedures for transferring credits and setting up email accounts will be covered. You also have the opportunity to meet representatives from your department to discuss requirements and course selection.

Guided Tour and
Lunch Break
12pm-2pm
1st Floor Lobby, Houston Hall

Led by the PHINS, this tour gives you the "real scoop" on Penn. Meet at the Welcome Center on the first floor of Houston Hall. The Transfer Advisors then take you on a tour of important facilities and buildings, help you find the best and cheapest places to grab a bite to eat, and answer any questions you might have about your classes, social life, or campus activities. The tour ends at Van Pelt Library where you may choose to join their guided tour.

Main Entrance, Van Pelt Library
Meet the staff of the Van Pelt Library as they give you a brief but valuable tour. These experts will give an overview of Penn's vast holdings and share their knowledge with you. This tour is guaranteed to take the edge off your first visit and arm you with the information you need to utilize their resources.
MandatoryAcademic Advising for Wharton Transfer Students

Wharton external transfer students have a unique set of concerns such as course evaluation for prior credits, course registration (while transfer credit is still pending), and overall acclimation to Penn. This critical information session will cover academic and advising issues specifically for the external transfer student. Wharton Undergraduate staff members will facilitate the orientation session and review curricular requirements.

All new students in the College Houses are required to attend informative sessions with their College House staff. Check with your House Dean, Resident Advisor or Graduate Advisor for your exact schedule.

Meet up with your fellow transfer students for some bowling fun! Free snacks and bowling lanes are provided. Penn ID required for the party.

Information Session

Hall of Flags, Houston Hall
Former transfer students highlight the most frequently used features of Penn's websites. Get an overview of the PennPortal, manage classes and credits with Penn InTouch, add PennCash to your PennCard and choose a meal plan. Learn about class-support websites such as Blackboard and WebCafe and the basics about SEPTA, Philadelphia's public transportation system.

This is a great opportunity to venture into Philadelphia while meeting fellow transfer students and enjoying tasty food. Sign up at the Welcome Center in advance.

Transfer Picnic

An Evening at the
Philadelphia Museum of Art

Meet at 40th & Locust streets at 5:30pm to take a shuttle
Join transfer students and all of Penn's new students for an evening at one of the world's greatest art museums. See the steps where Rocky made his famous sprint and take in spectacular views of the Philadelphia skyline. The Museum is open for new Penn students only, so don't miss out on this great event. Choose one of Philly's great neighborhoods to explore. Whether it's South Street, Rittenhouse Square, or historic Old City, the Transfer Advisors will show you the way. Read more about the tours here and you can sign up at the Welcome Center.

This trip to Citizen's Bank Park promises to be a great time no matter what the scoreboard says. Sign up for this event in advance at the Welcome Center as seats are limited. The PHINS will take everyone to the game via SEPTA. Tokens and game tickets are provided.
