Transfer Letter | Transfer Checklist | Transfer Events

Please read the following list in its entirety before you come to campus. Tackling these issues in the order listed will help you avoid frustration and ensure a successful semester.

Before You Arrive

Log on to Facebook. Facebook groups for both transfer and all new students are an ideal way to get to know one another and have your preliminary questions answered. It's also a great way for the NSO staff to relay information to you throughout the summer and Orientation week. To get started, visit www.penntransfers.info.

• Register for classes. By using the online registration system Penn InTouch, signing up for classes is easy. You should do this early to avoid the rush when classes begin. Wharton and Engineering students must see an advisor before registering.

• Check this website often. The Transfer NSO website is constantly updated, so be sure to re-visit during the summer and get the latest details about events, schedules and more.

• Confirm your Housing Assignment. You should have already confirmed your housing through Campus Express or by email at living@pobox.upenn.edu, but if you have any lingering questions, call the Assignments Office at 215.898.8271.

• Make arrangements to arrive on time. Mandatory orientation begins Wednesday, September 2 for transfer students who will be living on campus. While your on campus occupancy agreement officially begins Thursday, September 3, you may move in as early as Sunday, August 30. Rent will be prorated for each additional day in residence before the 3rd. Please see www.upenn.edu/housing/movein.html for additional information.

• Arrange for assistance, if needed, to attend Orientation events. Contact the NSO Staff at (215) 898-7000.

• Submit your PennCard application. Your PennCard is your student ID at Penn.  It’s crucial to your life at Penn, and you’ll need it for some of the orientation events, so be sure to get one.  To avoid the rush during NSO, you can apply for your PennCard over the summer and have it ready to be picked up at Houston Hall when you arrive on campus.  For more information, go to www.upenn.edu/penncard.

• Compile Transfer Credit Information. Bring all related coursework, including syllabi, papers, lab notebooks, portfolios, and old exams from your previous school. This will save you a lot of time later. It is an excellent idea to copy everything before you submit it for credit evaluation just in case something gets lost.

• Make online requests for Arts and Sciences transfer credits. To do so, log into XCAT at https://fusion.sas.upenn.edu/xcat and submit course materials online. XCAT is not currently configured to take requests for credits outside of Arts and Science departments.

• Research your Meal Plan options. You should have already received information in the mail about meal plans. If not, please contact Campus Dining Services at 215.898.7585 or info@dining.upenn.edu. See www.upenn.edu/dining for more information.
