President & Provost's Welcome and Reception 4:15pm

President Amy Gutmann and Provost Vincent Price welcome Penn families from the steps of College Hall. Immediately afterward, families are invited to an informal reception on Wynn Commons in Perelman Quad, directly behind College Hall. Everyone is invited to mingle with the President and Provost, distinguished Penn faculty and staff, and representatives from the College Houses, Penn Parents Program, and fellow Penn families. Tuesday, September 8 - for students

Convocation 7pm-8:15pm

This symbolic opening of the academic year includes an address by both President Gutmann and Provost Price and signifies the formal induction of the Class of 2013 into the Penn community. Faculty and staff, in full academic regalia, will be present, as will flag bearers for each of the College Houses. Convocation marks your entrance into the University's academic community and serves as a "bookend" to Commencement, when you will once again assemble as a class. President & Provost’s Dessert Reception for New Students 8:15pm-9:30pm

Upon the conclusion of Convocation, President Gutmann and Provost Price will host a sumptuous dessert reception for the Class of 2013. Faculty, staff, and student leaders will be present to congratulate the Class and usher in the start of the academic year. See your invitation for detailed information.
