¦ | ABOUT THE AUTHOR Dr. Neil Shubin is provost of The Field Museum of Natural History as well as a professor of anatomy at the University of Chicago, where he also serves as an associate dean. Educated at Columbia, Harvard, and the University of California at Berkeley, he lives in Chicago. Your Inner Fish, published in January of 2008, is his first book. Dr. Shubin served on Penn's faculty from 1989 to 2002 and was the first Faculty Master of Hamilton College House (now Rodin College House). Dr. Subin was recently a guest on Philadelphia's PBS station, WHYY, on the duel radio/television broadcast, Radio Times. Listen to the audio podcast here.
Dr. Shubin's appearance on The Colbert Report in January 2008 brought him and Your Inner Fish to national attention.
ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR Kalliopi Monoyios, the founder and principal artist of Kalliopi Monoyios' Illustration & Fine Art Studio, has a bachelor's degree in Geology from Princeton University. Her formal science background gives her the ability to analyze and understand highly technical information which she can then illustrate using her artistic skills. Kalliopi has recently studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, Continuing Studies Program and has previously trained with Betsey Garand, Susan Clinard, and Carol Abraczinskas. She is a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators and the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology. In addition to illustrating, Kalliopi enjoys getting her hands dirty in her sculpture studio. - From the artist's website. |
