Dr.
Nigel Lockyer is a professor of physics at the University
of Pennsylvania. He received his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University
in 1984. He is an experimental high energy physicist with experience
that spans both electron and proton colliders.
Lockyer is the former co-spokesperson
of the CDF experiment at Fermilab and was spokesperson for the
Mark II experiment at SLAC. His research has focused on top and
bottom quark physics.
Lockyer also has served on advisory
committees for the Japanese lab KEK and has some accelerator physics
experience. He is collaborating with personnel at Penn's School
of Medicine on PET-scanning devices.
In mid-2005, he became spokesperson
for the Superconducting Module Test Facility (SMTF) project, an
effort supported by the United States Department of Energy to
develop technology that hasrelevance for a linear collider. Dr.
Lockyer brings a wealth of experience with large-scale high energy
physics collaborations as well as small-scale experiments and
has a keen sense for the management of large research projects.
