A PennCard Access Code (PAC) is the four digit number used with a PennCard, most commonly to gain access to residential buildings. In the past, a PAC number was automatically assigned to students based on the last four digits of Social Security numbers as the default code. Changes to that process resulted in the assignment of a randomly assigned PAC number for new students arriving in Fall, 2010.

For current students, your PAC still incorporates the last four digits of your Social Security Number, unless you have taken action to reset the numbers. The access code was developed to protect the safety and well-being of Penn students therefore, all students are encouraged to change their code to something that is both secure and easy to remember.
