Kate Donohue is Director, Legal Affairs of the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Technology Transfer, as well as an Associate General Counsel of the University of Pennsylvania. As an intellectual property attorney, she has devoted over 15 years to legal support of technology development, protection and licensing. Ms. Donohue will assist the Penn community in negotiating and documenting patent licenses and commercialization agreements, material transfer agreements, collaborative and sponsored research agreements and other IP issues that relate to technology transfer.
When in private practice, Ms. Donohue developed a set of equity licensing form documents that are still used by universities and research institutions for their start up licenses. Ms. Donohue also routinely advised clients concerning software development, ownership and licensing, the selection and protection of trademarks, and advertising law.
Ms. Donohue was a partner at Pepper Hamilton LLP, has served as Assistant General Counsel of Sanchez Computer Associates, a software company, and for the past 3 years, served as the senior intellectual property attorney at Drexel University. She received an AB in International Relations from the University of Michigan Honors College and a JD from the University of Michigan Law School.
