Roman Petyk has served as Associate General Counsel since
1994 and is the University's transactional attorney responsible for major commercial
contracts involving Penn, particularly in regard to real estate and construction
matters. Mr. Petyk also serves as counsel to the University's real estate subsidiaries:
University City Associates, Inc.; O.A.P., Inc.; and the University's hospitality-oriented
subsidiary, Penn Tower Hotel, Inc.
Mr. Petyk's previous legal experience, at both Pepper Hamilton,
LLP in Philadelphia and Brown, Rudnick, Freed and Gesmer in Boston, involved
real estate transactions, construction contracting, and environmental compliance
issues. Prior to joining the legal profession in 1986, Mr. Petyk worked as
a City Planner for the City of Philadelphia and as a Site Planner/Landscape
Architect for the architectural firm of Kling Lindquist in Philadelphia.
Mr. Petyk is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania
(B.A., 1972), the University of Massachusetts Amherst (M.L.A.,1977), and Northeastern
University School of Law (J.D. 1986). He is a member of the Real Property Section
of the Philadelphia Bar Association, a member of the National Association of
College and University Attorneys (NACUA), and a member of the Board of Directors
of the Ukrainian Educational and Cultural Center in Jenkintown, PA. Mr. Petyk
has been an author for, and presenter at, legal education seminars sponsored
by the Bureau of National Affairs (BNA), CLE International and NACUA and has
published articles relating to real estate, zoning, leasing and contracting
issues. Mr. Petyk is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.
