Marcella J. Schell joined the Office of the General Counsel in October 2000, as Associate General Counsel practicing in the area of professional liability and managing the medical malpractice litigation for the University of Pennsylvania Health System.  She came to the University of Pennsylvania with twelve years of health care related litigation experience.  Prior to working at Penn, she was a shareholder in the Philadelphia law firm of Harvey, Pennington, Herting & Renneisen, where her practice concentrated in the medical device litigation including the defense of hospitals and physicians.

Ms. Schell is a graduate of George Washington University (B.A., 1984) and Villanova University School of Law (J.D., 1988).  Ms. Schell is a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association and is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
