A special group check-in and immigration session will be held as a part of your school’s orientation program. Additional details about this event will be provided by your school. If you attend this orientation program, you do not need to also attend the one at ISSS.
You should come prepared with the following:
-
completed Student Registration form. This will be available on our website this summer or at ISSS.
-
original immigration documents (passport, I-94 card (white departure card that you will obtain upon arrival in the US ), and I-20 (for F-1 students) or DS-2019 (for J-1 students)).
-
photocopies of your passport page(s) that include biographical data, photo, and expiration/extension date; front and back of I-94 card; I-20 or DS-2019 issued by Penn with US entry stamp; visa stamp page; and if applicable, I-20 or DS-2019 from previous program.
It is required that you attend one of these sessions to have your immigration documents registered within 30 days of your arrival to the US. At each of the registration sessions, an ISSS staff member will present information about immigration regulations, life at Penn, safety issues, social activities and more.
In addition to ISO, you are encouraged to participate in the orientation programs hosted by your academic department, as well as the Graduate Student Center. Information on events held by the Graduate Student Center can be found at: http://www.gsc.upenn.edu/.
