Transforming Cities: A Penn IUR Public Interest Symposium about the role of public and private partnerships in the revitalization of cities.

In honor of the newly-endowed Lawrence C. Nussdorf Chair, the Penn Institute for Urban Research hosted a public interest symposium, "Transforming Cities," on Wednesday, September 22. After a welcome by President Amy Gutmann and introductions by Interim Provost Peter Conn, a panel of experts discussed the positive outcomes of public and private engagement in the revitalization of cities. President emerita and Chair of the Penn IUR Advisory Board, Dr. Judith Rodin, led the discussion, and the panelists included Dr. Alice Rivlin, Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution; John Timoney, Chief of Police in Miami; and James Nevels, Chairman of the Philadelphia School Reform Commission and The Swarthmore Group, Inc.
