Penn’s Center for Africana Studies to Host Conference on Africa Sept. 25-26

WHEN: Sept. 25-26, 2009
Africanists from the U.S., the United Kingdom and Africa will gather at Penn to present their new research examining conditions on the African continent from 1930 to today.
Conference panels will focus on Africans during World War II, the Cold War and African freedom, challenges of independence in Africa and Africa and the future of the world. The conference will serve as the basis for a special volume of The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science on Africa to be published in 2010.
The conference is free and open to the public. Registration, which is required, is available online at http://centerforafricanastudies.org/africa/.
