Rebecca Bushnell, Professor of English, was appointed Associate Dean for Arts and Letters in a newly reorganized dean's office of the School of Arts and Sciences, replacing Associate Dean for the Humanities and Social Sciences Eugene Narmour. Narmour stepped down following a minor stroke suffered just after the beginning of the new year. Bushnell's responsibilities as Associate Dean will include the oversight of Classical Studies, English, Folklore and Folklife, German, History of Art, Music, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Romance Languages and Slavic Languages.
Bushnell now serves as chair of the SAS Committee on Undergraduate Education and previously chaired the Graduate Group in English from 1991-1994 and the University Council Committee on Libraries from 1995-1996.
