This pitcher, made in Rome's eastern provinces in the fourth century A.D., is one of more than 200 glass vessels on display in the University of Pennsylvania Museum's special exhibit "Roman Glass: Reflections on Cultural Change." The exhbit is on display at the Museum, 33rd and Spruce streets, through November. |

New light from the East

Glenn Ligon's prints, such as this "advertisement" from his series "Runaways" (1995), examine questions of identity, race, and sexuality. "Unbecoming," at the Institute of Contemporary Art through March 8, is the first extensive thematic exhibition of his works, focusing on the artist as subject. The ICA is located at 118 S. 36th St. |
