NEWS BRIEFSThem's the QuakesCo-captain Jim Finn (W'99) has been named the Ivy League Player of the Year in football and was selected for the second year in a row to the All-Ivy League first team. With 1,450 yards rushing, Finn ran away with the Penn's best and the Ivy League's fourth-best season ever. Finn's co-captain, defensive back Joe Piela (W'99) and linebacker Darren Macdonald (W'99) joined Finn on the All-Ivy first team. Matt Rader (W'99), Brian Cosmello (C'00), Mike Germano (W'01) and Adrian Puzio (W'00) made the second team. The Quakers won the Ivy League Championship this season.
A host of sparkling Penn Glee Club members bested Katie Couric in smiles when they serenaded "Today" show viewers Christmas morning. The 22 carolers belted out "We Wish you a Merry Christmas," Deck the Halls" and "Jingle Bells" from beneath the Rockefeller Center's Christmas tree.

The University City District's new shuttle service will begin its loops from 30th Street Station to employers and institutions in University City this spring, and it's in need of a name. Penn Civic House played host to the Pearl S. Buck Foundation's (PSBF) Woman of the Year Award Ceremony last month. Performer and producer Sheryl Lee Ralph, who plays Dee on the TV show "Moesha," received the award from Wipa Phromthonghdl, the young Thai woman she sponsored through PSBF for 14 years. |
