APPOINTMENTS
- Tukufu Zuberi, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Sociology, was appointed Director of the African Studies Center, replacing outgoing head Sandra Barnes. Zuberi will replace interim head Tom Callaghy, Professor of Political Science, on July 1. Zuberi will oversee the center's efforts to promote interdisciplinary instruction and research about Africa. The African Studies Center is a four-school consortium led by Penn that sponsors a wide range of activites. The ASC has developed study abroad programs, recurring lecture series and conferences, and a website that operates as a popular window into African news and affairs.
- David Bryan was named Director of Athletic Facilities and Operations. Bryan will be responsible for developing and managing events. Before coming to Penn, Bryan was an account executive at Chesapeake Advertising, marketing director for the Atlantic City Sea Gulls basketball team and special projects manager at Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino.
