Readers' Best: Mortarboard madness


High concept

For its last exhibition of the 1998-99 season, the Institute of Contemporary Art has commissioned conceptual artist Sol LeWitt to create four new works specifically for its walls. The drawings and gouaches will be displayed along with recent pieces, including "Squiggly Brushstrokes," shown here, in the "Sol LeWitt: New Work (Black and Colors)" exhibit at the ICA, 118 S. 36th St., through July 25. Gallery hours: 12 to 8 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. A very green centennial

The Fernery at the Morris Arboretum was an impressive sight when John and Lydia Morris built it in 1899. Now fully restored to its original appearance, the late-Victorian gem is ready for its second century as a place to study ferns and other plants that thrive in moist environments. Greece is the word

Every summer, the University of Pennsylvania Museum's "Anthropologists in the Making Summer Adventures" day-camp program offers children the opportunity to travel through time and across continents, all without leaving Philadelphia. This year's first camp (see Monday, July 5) visits ancient Greece, and includes activities such as mask-making, pictured here.
