NEWS BRIEFS Outsourcing outPenn will resume management of its on-campus housekeeping and maintenance facilities under a new six-year contract with Trammell Crow Higher Education Services, a division of the real estate services company Trammell Crow Company. Trammell Crow will continue to provide project management and portfolio management for the University. Two years ago, Penn made the contentious decision to outsource management of its on-campus facilities. Now, under the new arrangement, Trammell Crow managers will be rehired with comparable positions and benefits. Employees will retain the retirement benefits they accrued while under Trammell Crow and previously under Penn, and in fact will benefit from a greater employer contribution under the new deal, said Omar Blaik, vice president for facilities services and contract management. Singers journeyAllan Keiler, author of Marian Anderson: A Singers Journey, and Andersons cousin Sandra Grymes spoke about the famed contraltos life Feb. 25 at Van Pelt-Dietrich Library Center. Keiler, a professor of music at Brandeis University, based his book largely on materials given to the Penn Library by Anderson. Grymes and Andersons nephew James DePreist worked with the University to establish the Marian Anderson Archive and the Marian Anderson Memorial Music Study Center. The Library has established an on-line exhibit of the Archive at www.library.upenn.edu/special/gallery/anderson and of family and publicity photos at www.library.upenn.edu/special/photos/anderson. Oops!In our story WXPN picks the hits (Current, March 2), we misidentified current General Manager Vince Curren as Bruce Warrens predecessor as program director. That person was actually Bruce Rames, who succeeded Mike Morrison, on whose watch The World Cafe evolved. Vince Curren was assistant general manager under Mark Fuerst. We regret the error.
