John Dixon Hunt, Ph.D., a professor of landscape architecture and former chair of the department of landscape architecture and regional planning, has been named a member of the prestigious Chevalier des Artes et Lettres (Order of Arts and Letters) by the Cultural Ministry of France for his exceptional endeavors in landscape architecture. In receiving the award, established in 1957, he joins previous recipients like stars David Bowie, Marilyn Horne, Robert Redford and Meryl Streep. Hunt’s most recent book, a theoretic study of landscape architecture, “Greater Perfections: The Practice of Garden Theory” (University of Pennsylvania Press) appeared last year.
