NEWS BRIEFS Champs!With its 45-15 drubbing of Cornell Nov. 18, Quaker football finished the 2000 season in sole possession of the Ivy League title its second Ivy crown in three years and its eighth outright Ivy title in history. The win capped off a season for the books, as the 2000 Quakers broke team records for points scored in both league play (277) and overall (349), breaking the record held by the 1998 Ivy championship squad. Jason Feinberg set a league record for points scored as a kicker, and team members Gavin Hoffman and Rob Milanese set team records Hoffman in career passing, and Milanese in receptions in a season. Stouffer auctionThe Friday night snack pack (including homemade Rice Krispies treats and a deck of cards) went for $6, and someone took home the almost new microwave for $32. By the time Stouffer College Houses Great Leukemia Auction was over, the bids had netted nearly $1,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The Nov. 18 auction was in honor of Melissa Sengbusch, a former Stouffer resident who passed away from leukemia last summer. In addition to the old auction mainstays like gift certificates and dinners out, house members donated personal items like baked goods, spare belongings and services. Wharton wiredTwo recent moves at the Wharton School aim to give it a stronger presence in the New Economy. One is the Wharton e-Business Initiative, a partnership with Internet Capital Group that will help businesses take advantage of the latest research in the field of business-to-business commerce on the Internet. The other is Wharton West, which will give Silicon Valleyites access to the Wharton experience. WW will offer Whartons Executive MBA program, MBA courses, undergraduate internships and executive education in San Francisco beginning in the fall.
