Far from homespun
Contemporary quiltmakers like Deborah Schwartzman, whose 1999 work “Autumn Sugar” appears above, have put a new spin on the folk art of quilting. The Arthur Ross Gallery exhibit “At the Cutting Edge: The State of the Art Quilt,” opening June 15, showcases the unorthodox techniques and materials today’s fabric artists employ.
