If you’ve been away over the summer months, or even if you haven’t, you’ve probably noticed a few changes around campus since Bono and several thousand students left town in May. As we kick off a new semester at Penn, here’s a snapshot of some of the more obvious changes to the scenery, including new places to eat, new logos to look at, new spots to go wireless, new scaffolding to watch out for, new academic degrees to consider and new ways to get fit. With so many new things to grab our attention, let’s not forget the most important new addition to the campus—our new president, Dr. Amy Gutmann. On the last day of August, she greeted the 2008 class to Penn (above) and gamely layered on tee shirts as they were presented to her by freshmen. Welcome to our community, Dr. Gutmann. As you can see, we have a lot going on.
