WHO SHE IS: Information Support Specialist, School of Nursing
YEARS AT PENN: 8; She’s worked at the SON since 2001.
WHAT SHE DOES: McKinnon fields all incoming technical requests from nursing faculty, staff and students, manages the school’s software licensing program, updates the school’s IT department website, purchases all of the hardware and software for the department, manages the laptop loan program and trains people in Microsoft Office Suite programs. For all of her work, McKinnon was recently named Help Desk Analyst of the Year by the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Help Desk Institute. “I was just shocked,” she said. “It was a completely humbling experience.”
WHY SHE LIKES COMPUTERS: “I refer to myself as an analytical person,” she says. “I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.”
