The athletic and surrealistic performances of MOMIX have been called the “‘Avatar’ of dance” because of its otherworldly beauty. Combining dance movement with puppetry, projected imagery and the elaborate use of props and costumes, MOMIX brings the mesmerizing vision of Artistic Director Moses Pendleton’s imagination to life. Pendleton, one of the founding members of Pilobolus Dance Theater, formed MOMIX in the early 1980s and stepped into the role of artistic director in 1984.
The dance troupe will perform “Botanica,” a celebration of nature, in the Zellerbach Theater at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, 3680 Walnut St., from May 20 to May 23. Performance times vary, and ticket prices range from $28 to $48. For more information visit www.pennpresents.org.
