For the first time, Philadelphia will host more than 100 comedic improvisers from over 20 U.S. cities—and countries as far away as the United Kingdom and Germany—as the city welcomes the ComedySportz World Tournament.
This popular show is improvised comedy performed as a sport. Each night, teams compete for laughs, culminating in a championship comedy match. Because it’s improvised, every show is different, featuring a variety of comedic styles. Over three days in July (15, 16 and 17), more than 20 teams will battle for the most laughs at Downstairs Live at the World Cafe Live. Each performance features teams from four cities (except the championship match).
ComedySportz is appropriate for all ages. It is one of the most popular and longest-running comedy shows around and the top improv comedy show in Philadelphia.
The showcase begins on July 15. Two performances are held each day: an early show beginning at 7 p.m., and late show at 9:30 p.m. Doors open 45 minutes prior to showtime and a smoke-free, full-service bar and restaurant menu are available.
For more information, call 1-877-98-LAUGH or visit www.worldcafelive.com. A three-night pass to all six shows costs $100, and $90 for students with student ID.
Each year ComedySportz donates proceeds from its championship to a worthy cause. This year, ComedySportz Philly benefits the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater Delaware Valley Chapter.
