The Penn Band and Penn’s Netter Center for Community Partnerships, in harmony with the West Philly Coalition for Neighborhood Schools, is holding a musical instrument drive for the music program at Lea Elementary School. They welcome donations of musical instruments, music stands, music accessories, and monetary gifts.
The program is in particular need of quarter-size string instruments, half-size string instruments, percussion instruments, and accessories such as shoulder pads for strings, extra instrument cases, replacement strings, tuners, and more. Donations can be dropped off at 120 Claudia Cohen Hall and the Platt Performing Arts House, 3702 Spruce St., on campus. Donated instruments that are not used by the children at Lea Elementary will be given to Musicopia, an organization that will pass them along to other underserved students in the Philadelphia region.
