Domus

WHAT: A brand-new eight-story luxury apartment building with 290 very well-appointed apartments.

WHERE: At the corner of 34th and Chestnut streets.

WHAT MAKES IT SO LUXURIOUS: Well, the concierge who is ready, willing and able to meet your every need, for one. The private screening room, open to residents only, for another.

WHAT IT’S LIKE INSIDE: Apartments range from one-bedroom/one-bath units to three-bedroom/two-bath. Every unit boasts a full-size washer and dryer, stainless steel appliances and lovely oversize windows that flood the open floor plan with light. Even the second floor offers expansive views of Center City. Bathrooms feature whirlpool tubs and walk-in closets so huge they rival the size of some Manhattan studio apartments. Tenants can order up personal touches for their apartments, like customized kitchen countertops and wall colors to built-in computer desks.

COMMON SPACE?: Indeed, there are quite a few spaces residents can share—from the 24-hour fitness room to the “great room,” which features an e-lounge and massive kitchen island with stainless steel appliances and free-standing stove. Cynthia Birdwell, director of marketing for leasing agent Hanover, explains that Domus’ on-staff social director will coordinate wine tastings and happy hours in the common space. The second floor also boasts a courtyard pool with outdoor fireplaces and grills.

GETTING A CAFFEINE FIX: Residents can access the all-new 24-hour Starbucks from a private entrance, adjacent to the main lobby.

WHAT’S UP WITH THE BELLS?: Otherwise known as “Wave Forms,” the bells are the city’s latest public art project, by renowned sculptor Dennis Oppenheim. Three connected steel and mesh bells form a dramatic gateway to the complex. Further back in the courtyard sit three more bells. Eventually, the steel structures will be covered with vines and other foliage, but for now, plants are just beginning to creep up the sides of the bells.

WHAT WILL IT COST ME?: Be prepared to write a big check—one bedroom, one bath places start at $1,799 per month for about 791 square feet. A three bedroom/two-bath 1,635 square foot space can run as high as $4,764 per month.

MORE INFORMATION: Domus’ web site (www.domuspa.com) features a picture gallery so you can sneak a virtual peak inside. Or call 215-387-4477 for more details.
