The Savoy Company of Philadelphia is the oldest amateur theater company in the world devoted to the production of operas by Gilbert and Sullivan. Penn Libraries’ exhibition, “Let Every Heart Be Filled with Joy,” traces the history of the company, beginning with its founding in 1901 by Penn alumnus Alfred Reginald Allen. To mark half a century as one of the leading contemporary art museums in the world, the exhibition “ICA@50: Pleasing Artists and Publics Since 1963” animates the Institute of Contemporary Art’s past and propels it into the future. The ICA is celebrating the anniversary by examining lesser-known moments in contemporary art, engage today’s artists, commission new projects, and move toward the unknown.
