Penn women throw some party

A weekend of events celebrating 125 years of Penn women drew more than 1,200 alumnae to campus. They pushed the buildings on Locust Walk back a foot or two to get closer to the dedication of the new Womens Walkway on the bridge over 38th Street (above).

And they awarded the 2001 Beacon Award for leadership furthering the advancement of women to Judith Rodin (above), the Universitys president since 1994 and the first woman to serve as president of an Ivy League institution (shown with Chris Hikawa on the right, chair of the Trustees Council of Penn Women).

banner.jpegThe numerous events also included panel discussions and a special reception to honor Penn women who have authored books. Shown above is author Ruth Branning Molloy (Ed30) pointing to her own book pictured on the celebrations commemorative poster.
