Welcome home the heroes

Having a hard time putting a face on the 22 countries that make up Penns Latino community? Stop by La Casa Latina, the ARCH, 3601 Locust Walk, and see the many faces of Latino leaders emerge from a dazzling display of colorful tiles. Titled ¿Qué es un héroe? or Who is a hero? the recently completed mosaic depicts Latinos who have made important contributions to societypeople like Frida Kahlo, Tito Puente and Roberto Clemente. The design is a collaborative effort between Philadelphia artists Mario Guadalupe Cruz and Michelle A. Ortiz and the centers students, staff and administration. Photo by Candace diCarlo |
