This Saturday, the University of Pennsylvania Museum comes alive with the sights, sounds and flavors of China at the 23rd annual Chinese New Year Celebration.

The Museum ushers in the Year of the Monkey with music, dance, arts and crafts demonstrations, martial arts, games, children’s activities and more, all leading up to the traditional Lion Dance that ends the celebration.

This year, there are two new additions to the roster of Chinese New Year performers. Peter Tang’s Chinese Ensemble (photo) performs traditional and contemporary Chinese music using indigenous instruments, and renowned Chinese dancer-choreographer Yu Wei presents works inspired by nature that combine traditional Chinese dance with Western classical, folk, ballet and modern styles.
