Penn President Amy Gutmann welcomes new students to the University during Move-in.
The time to unpack boxes and make new friends has begun, as close to 2,500 freshmen start a new life at Penn.
University President Amy Gutmann (pictured) was on hand Sept. 3 to welcome new students as they moved into their dorms. The Class of 2013 is the most diverse in the University’s history: 47 percent are students of color and there are nearly 480 international students from more than 60 nations.
Before classes begin on Sept. 9, the newest members of Penn’s scholarly community will spend several days at New Student Orientation, where they will get acquainted with all that the campus and Philadelphia have to offer, including arts and culture, food and sports.
