The Comprehensive Guide to Living Off-Campus was released this month courtesy of the Undergraduate Assembly's West Philadelphia Committee. The previously yearly guide had been dormant for three years.
The guide provides landlord listings and a community resource directory. In addition to listings, the guide offers practical advice and does its best to allay fears first-time renters may have about moving off campus.
Few students contributed to the survey that asked renters to evaluate their landlords. "When we actually asked [students] for responses, we got very little. We put the actual survey in the DP as a full page ad, made it available on the Web, offered a raffle, and distributed them in 1920 Commons," explained Hillary Aisenstein, a member of the committee.
Aisenstein noted that response to the $5 guide has been positive, with one catch. "Many students are interested in the survey [results], but not interested in paying for it," she said.Front page for this issue | Pennsylvania Current home page
