One hundred children from the Samuel Powel School, Charles Drew School and Shaw Middle School swarmed over College Green in the name of poetry on Monday, April 5. The students decorated a traveling Volkswagen Beetle with magnetic words to form poems of their own making. They also challenged one another in poetry tag, received poetry tattoos and were granted far-reaching "Poetic Licenses." Acclaimed poet Victor Hernandez joined the kids on the Green to read and pass out free books.
