It's showtime at the Annenberg

Penn Dance — shown here: troupe members Harold Sun (GrE’01) and Kobie Xavier (C’00) performing “His Hands” in November 1998 — is one of the many campus performing-arts groups on the Performing Arts Night schedule.

You’ve been identified, moved in, oriented and seminared. Now prepare to be entertained.

On Sept. 8 and 9, the Performing Arts Council showcases the vitality of Penn’s student performing-arts scene on Performing Arts Night. Each of the council’s 38 member theater, dance, instrumental and choral groups will offer a sample of its fare. From the improvisational comedy of Without a Net to the experimental theater of Intuitons to the dance of African Rhythms to the harmony of Penn’s numerous a cappella groups, there’s something for everybody at this annual extravaganza.

And while the showcase is intended to introduce the freshman class to the world of performance at Penn, everyone is welcome to attend.

  • PERFORMING ARTS NIGHT: Wednesday, Sept. 8 and Thursday, Sept. 9 at 8 p.m. in Zellerbach Theatre, Annenberg Center, 3680 Walnut St. Tickets $5. Tickets/info: Annenberg Center box office, 215-898-6791.
