Credentials:

  • Dr. Horton, currently awaiting official word on evacuation procedures, is in Corolla, N.C., where he spoke to the Army Corps of Engineers and is collecting data on the last hurricane to hit this region, Isabel in 2003.
  • Dr. Horton is an environmental scientist who studies sea-level rise around the world, most recently in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  He published in the journal Geology that sea levels along the coast had risen at a rate three times higher in the 20th century than during the last 500 years.
