The students, selected under Penn's expanded recruitment program for Philadelphia students from public and parochial high schools throughout the city, receive scholarship packages that include no student loan obligation. This year the University will enroll some 140 Mayor's Scholars, who will receive approximately $2.7 million in grant aid from Penn.

"The Mayor's Scholarship is an example of how an ongoing partnership between a great University and a great City can enhance the lives of many young students who, we all know, represent our hopes for the future," Rodin said.
