Richard Martin Donne Barrett, the U.N’s highest-ranking official responsible for monitoring the activities of Al Qaeda and the Taliban, will present a comprehensive assessment of the capabilities and intentions of these organizations.
The event will be moderated by Dr. Harvey Rubin, director of the Institute for Strategic Threat Analysis and Response at the University of Pennsylvania.
Sponsored by the non-profit, International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation and Political Violence, ICSR, Barrett will offer his blueprint for defeating Al Qaeda and the Taliban with a precise mix of military and political tactics. (His analysis and recommendations represent his personal views and are not to be interpreted as endorsed by the United Nations.)
ICSR is a partnership in which the University of Pennsylvania, King’s College London, the Interdisciplinary Center of Herzliya, Israel, and the Regional Center for Conflict Prevention of Jordan are equal stakeholders. Based in London, its mission is to bring together knowledge and leadership to counter the growth of radicalization and political violence.
Barrett’s analysis will be posted to the ICSR web site (www.icsr.info) following the presentation. Space is limited. Credentialed media are required to pre-register.
