PHILADELPHIA -- Heather Weiss Frattone has been named associate dean for career planning and placement at the University of Pennsylvania Law School.  Her appointment is effective July 9.

"Heather brings to this position an impressive track record in legal practice and policy development as well as great intelligence, energy and creativity," Michael A. Fitts, Penn Law dean, said.

Frattone has been executive director of policy and planning in the Chief Executive's Office at the School District of Philadelphia.  She is a 1994 cum laude graduate of Penn's Wharton School and a 1998 graduate of Penn Law.

Prior to starting at Penn Law, she worked in the Clinton White House's Office of Legislative Affairs and at the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia.  As a law student, Frattone interned with federal Judge Marjorie Rendell, served as a clinical student in the Public Defenders Association and was a Louderback Legal Writing Instructor.

Upon graduation, Frattone joined Dechert's litigation department and later worked in government relations and litigation at Kleinbard, Bell & Brecker.
