Students, faculty and staff at the University of Pennsylvania gathering to celebrate the completion of the school’s Climate Action Plan with green festival. Penn President Amy Gutmann and Vice President for Facilities and Real Estate Services Anne Papageorge will address the crowd.
A festival on – appropriately – College Green, will include two dozen displays about living sustainably, including: locally grown produce from Penn Dining, demonstrations on conserving energy and utilities, information on recycling and public transportation, displays of “green” products from the Penn Bookstore, and general information about Penn’s commitment to a green campus.
The celebration marks the completion of Penn’s comprehensive Climate Action Plan, which was spurred by President Gutmann’s signing of the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment in 2007. This pledge bound the University to submit a long-range plan by Sept.15, 2009.
In the center of campus, in front of College Hall. Rain location is Bodek Lounge in Houston Hall, 3417 Spruce Street.
Wednesday, Sept. 16. Festival runs from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., and speeches will be at noon
