PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia Hospitality Inc. a non-profit organization that promotes the region as a world-class business and leisure destination for corporate, cultural, and professional groups, will present its Vision for Philadelphia Award to Amy Gutmann, president of the University of Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, October 30, at the Hyatt at the Bellevue. More than 300 people are expected to attend the Vision Award dinner, including leaders of the region’s corporate, hospitality, government, educational and service organizations, as well as Philadelphia Hospitality’s corporate and individual members.

Philadelphia Hospitality created the Vision award in 1994 to honor an extraordinary individual or individuals whose leadership and accomplishments propel Philadelphia forward to a more vibrant future. As this year’s honoree, Gutmann exemplifies this vision through her exceptional achievements in engaging with the local community, markedly broadening access to higher education and vigorously advancing Philadelphia’s reputation as a premier center of academic medicine. Previous award recipients have included former Pennsylvania Gov. Edward G. Rendell, Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter, H.F. (Gerry) Lenfest, Bill Hankowsky and other notable Philadelphians.

“We are pleased to recognize the outstanding contributions that Dr. Gutmann has made to the region,” said Bill Mifflin, executive director of Philadelphia Hospitality. “Through her commitment to the city and region, Penn has become a transformative force in improving local education, health care and economic opportunity.”

Honorary co-chairs for this year’s Vision Award are Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett and Nutter. Co-chairs are Rhonda R. and David L. Cohen, Alice M. and Charles E. Dagit Jr., Hilarie L. and Mitchell L. Morgan and Richard E. and Diane Dalto Woosnam. The Presenting Sponsor is the University of Pennsylvania, and the Visionary Sponsors are the Hyatt at the Bellevue and Raymond G. Perelman.
