Penn increases childcare options for University, West Philly communities Finding reliable, affordable daycare for preschoolers is a challenge for
most working parents. Now, thanks to Penn's
contributions to two neighborhood childcare centers, 100 more children
can be cared for safely and securely while their parents are at work.
On Tuesday, May 11, PAL honored Maureen Rush, vice president for public safety at Penn, at its 2010 PAL Award Dinner and Silent Auction for making significant contributions to the organization for nearly a decade. Rush has coordinated numerous activities for the city's 26 PAL centers.
Free speech and grammar advice reign on the Language Log, a blog co-founded by Mark Liberman, a professor in Penn's Department of Linguistics and Department of Computer and Information Science. The blog informs readers about the big questions regarding language and linguistics.
In conjunction with the exhibition "Cleopatra: The Search for the Last Queen of Egypt" at The Franklin Institute, the Penn Museum will offer a self-guided tour, "Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt," that explores the long tradition of pharaonic rule that ended with Cleopatra's suicide in 30 B.C.E.
