The Penn Current Express will resume its weekly publication schedule beginning Sept. 16.
Penn's life insurance policies offer free funeral planning service The Funeral Planning Service can aid grieving Penn faculty and staff in their time of need. The University's life insurance carrier, Aetna, offers the service to faculty and staff enrolled in any of the University's life insurance plans, at no extra cost.
The University will host the second meeting of the Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues, chaired by Penn President Amy Gutmann, in mid-September. The 13-member Commission was formed by President Barack Obama by Executive Order in November 2009.
The Penn Museum is developing multimedia tours for the deaf and hard-of-hearing, scheduled to begin this fall. In partnership with Sign World TV, an entertainment company serving America's 30 million deaf and hard-of-hearing, the Museum will produce a "Highlights of the Galleries" tour delivered in American Sign Language.
Water flows all around us. We need to drink it to survive. Globally, sources of clean water are drying up, and what society must do to conserve and preserve this resource serves as Penn's academic theme for 2010-11. Organizers of the Year of Water had only to look to the University's own sustainability commitment for inspiration.
