Penn Nursing Hosting 5K Walk for Water for Haiti

 

WHO &

WHAT:            The University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing will host a 5K walk to raise money to purchase water-filtration systems and provide access to clean water for health clinics in Port Au Prince, Haiti, in conjunction with World Water Day.

 

Five-gallon buckets of water will be available to 5k walkers wishing to walk in solidarity with Haitian women who walk long distances to gather clean water for their families.

Sharon Ravitch of Penn’s Graduate School of Education Named Advisor for Haitian Ministry of Education

PHILADELPHIA –- Sharon Ravitch, a senior lecturer in the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education, has been named senior international advisor to the Haitian Ministry of Education for its Education Reconstruction Plan, designed to rebuild the nation’s education system.

Creutzer Mathurin, a senior leader in the Ministry, formalized an agreement today at Penn, solidifying Ravitch’s and GSE’s role in rebuilding the Haitian educational infrastructure.

Penn Graduate School of Education Researchers Head to Haiti to Improve Long-Term Educational Leadership

PHILADELPHIA — Sharon Ravitch, a faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education, will lead a team of researchers to Haiti on July 15 to launch an educational-redevelopment project aimed at helping to rebuild the country’s academic infrastructure.

January’s earthquake in Haiti killed nearly 1,300 teachers, leaving a massive void in educational leadership.

Models for Donors Seeking Long-Term Impact.”  The guide focuses on health, livelihoods and education, and it points to solutions where charitable dollars could make the biggest difference.
