PennCycle Launches Pilot Bicycling Program

PHILADELPHIA – PennCycle, a University of Pennsylvania student-led shared bicycle pilot program housed in Penn Student Agencies, will host a kick-off event Friday, March 16, from noon to 4 p.m. at Hill Field, 34th and Chestnut streets.

The event includes free test rides on PennCycle bikes, PennCycle subscription sign-ups, free food from local restaurants including Jimmy John’s, coffee and treats from Penn Student Agencies vendors and a student disc jockey.

Penn GSE Event Addresses Global Literacy, Recognizes Inauguration of UNESCO Chair

PHILADELPHIA — The University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education will host “Global Literacy in the 21st Century: Problems and Prospects,” at 4 p.m., Thursday, March 15 in Huntsman Hall.

Penn School of Social Policy & Practice Introduces Community Teamworks Volunteer Program

PHILADELPHIA – The School of Social Policy & Practice at the University of Pennsylvania has launched SP2 Community Teamworks, a pilot program that involves local engagement as well as team-building through volunteer projects.

Modeled after Goldman Sach’s Community Teamworks in New York City, School of Social Policy & Practice students, faculty, staff and alumni provide suggestions for and participate in local volunteer opportunities.

Penn's Center for High Impact Philanthropy Partners in 100Kin10 Initiative for Education

PHILADELPHIA — The Center for High Impact Philanthropy at the University of Pennsylvania will be a partner in 100Kin10, a movement to recruit, prepare and support 100,000 science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM, teachers during the next decade.

Kate Hovde, senior analyst with the Center, will attend the first 100Kin10 Partner Summit on Tuesday, Feb. 21, in Washington, D.C., where Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will launch the event to bring together the network of partners.

RecycleMania 2012 Begins at Penn

PHILADELPHIA –- As part of its Year of Games, the University of Pennsylvania is among the 600-plus colleges and universities across the United States and Canada competing during the next eight weeks in RecycleMania 2012. This competition is designed to see which schools will minimize their waste stream most significantly and achieve the greatest recycling rate.
