Actress Anna Deavere Smith to Explore Human Spirit, Resiliency in ‘Let Me Down Easy’ Presentation Jan. 26

WHO:

Anna Deavere Smith, an actress, teacher and playwright, will discuss and perform selected scenes from her latest highly acclaimed piece, “Let Me Down Easy.”

Smith has had roles in the films “Philadelphia,” “An American President,” “The Human Stain” and “Rent,” and in television she has worked on “The Practice,” “The West Wing” and, currently, “Nurse Jackie.”

Penn’s Project for Civic Engagement Hosts Workshops on the Public Engagement Process of City’s New Zoning Code

 

PHILADELPHIA — The University of Pennsylvania Project for Civic Engagement, in partnership with the Philadelphia chapter of the American Institute of Architects (under its umbrella organization of the Center for Architecture) and media partner WHYY will host a series of deliberative workshops to provide input to the Zoning Code Commission about the public engagement process of Philadelphia’s new zoning code.

Penn Grad Sarah-Jane Littleford Named Rhodes Scholar

 

PHILADELPHIA –- Sarah-Jane Littleford, a 2009 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, has been awarded a Rhodes Scholarship for study at Oxford University in England.

Littleford, who is from Harare, Zimbabwe, was one of two Rhodes Scholars selected from that country. She learned of the honor today after an interview with the selection committee.

“I am delighted and humbled to have been selected as one of two Zimbabwe Rhodes Scholars for this year!” she said in an email this morning.
