Becoming the president of Penn is the culmination for me of a lifelong devotion to teaching and education.
When I was in kindergarten, I wanted to be a kindergarten teacher, and then I got to high school and I wanted to be a high school teacher. In college, I wanted to be a college teacher.
Three years ago I said that I didn’t want to be a university
president. And I still stand by that. I don’t want to be a
university president, I want to be Penn’s president.
For me, this is a thrilling, wonderful opportunity to continue my
commitment to teaching and service as the leader of a superb University.
