Zack has been a certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) for the last seven years. He has have taught all levels of the American Red Cross swimming program, but most of his experience is with Pre-School Level 3 (3-5 year-olds) and Learn-to-Swim Levels 3-5 (10 to 17 years old). However, he is eager to teach any skill level or age group and can readily adapt his lessons to fit individual needs.
Ella (Ellie) T
Ellie started teaching swim lessons at age 15 as a way to give back to the sport and get young kids excited about swimming. She has taught both group and private lessons on and off since then. In college, she swam for her school’s varsity swim team, and continued to teach lessons after practice and on weekends. Currently in graduate school, Ellie has found even more passion for teaching as a way of staying involved in the sport she loves. She enjoys teaching people of all ages and ability levels, from those looking to become comfortable in the water to those who want to improve technique, speed, and efficiency.
Some of Fran's strengths as an instructor are working with adults who fear the water, working with parents, and teaching runners and people who practice yoga how to be better swimmers. She also loves teaching flip turns. Although she enjoys working primarily with adults, she works with swimmers of any ability level.
Erich's interest for teaching swimming was sparked when he would take his little brother and his friends to the pool and show them proper techniques. He has been swimming competitively for more than ten years, and currently competes on the club swim team at Penn. He especially enjoys teaching kids looking to learn and refine different strokes and improve their times.
Rob is an artist, yogi, vegetarian, cycletarian and veteran swim instructor. He loves to share his love of the water with everyone from infants to adults, brand new beginners to competitive and advanced swimmers. He believes that comfort leads to confidence, and confidence leads to greater comfort. He works at making his classes fun, and progressive from any starting point.
Alli is currently a 2nd degree student in Penn's nursing program studying to be a pediatric oncology Nurse Practitioner. She swam competitively throughout high school, but stopped during college to run varsity track and cross country. She has been teaching swim lesson since 2008, and especially loves teaching breaststroke!
Ekaterina first began teaching while lifeguarding at the community pool. Throughout the years, she has taught both kids and adults how to swim, be safe in the water, and helped many get over their fears. She enjoys helping kids get excited about swimming and gain confidence in their abilities. She also loves to help adults grow into more confident swimmers, learn new techniques and test their limits.
Georgia is from Denver and has taught swimming for two years in Colorado and is excited to be continuing here at Penn. She loves teaching breaststroke and her favorite part about being a swim instructor is watching how people improve. A fun fact about Georgia is that she really loves Broncos football!
Mary Anne L
Mary Anne started teaching volunteer swim lessons as a varsity swimmer in college, then when she began working at Penn, she decided to continue teaching as a way to give back to the sport which has given her so much.
She has given lessons to students of many ages, from 6 to 60, and loved every minute. Because it's rewarding to see any student improve and see a difference in their stroke, Mary Anne works with swimmers of all ability levels, but likes working with swimmers who are motivated and driven to improve!
Connor first began teaching swim lessons and classes after working as a lifeguard at a summer camp and community pool. She spent most of her summers as a kid swimming, so it only felt right to help others enjoy the water as much as she did! Connor has been teaching swim lessons since 2014 and has the most experience with toddlers and children. That said, she also likes teaching teenagers and adults who may not be as comfortable in the water as they would like to be. She loves seeing her students learn to love the water and growing comfortable enough swim independently.
Max has been teaching swim lessons to people of all ages throughout high school and is excited to continue here at Penn. He has been a competitive swimmer for more than a decade, specializing in freestyle and butterfly. Max loves to teach all strokes and is eager to teach people of all ages and skill levels. He loves to watch his clients improve and reach their personal swimming goals.
Deanna started teaching lessons at the age of 15. She was a swim coach for the Special Olympics and was involved with private lessons for children with special needs at a local pool.
She has been teaching swim lessons for 7 years and adapts to her clients' needs by using a variety of drills and techniques. She was a competitive swimmer, and is familiar with a variety of skills and abilities. Teaching flip turns, however is one of her favorite skills to teach.
Anita is a current undergraduate student at Penn. Before teaching swim lessons at Penn, she swam competitively for ten years and worked as an aquatic therapy instructor for children. She enjoys working with beginners of all ages, especially helping people float for the first time or perfect their form. She also loves talking about movies, ramen, and fashion.
Morgan is a junior studying mechanical engineering and has been teaching swim lessons since high school. She likes working with children and is experienced in teaching children who have no previous swimming experience, as well as those who are afraid of the water or swimming unaided. Her favorite part of being an instructor is seeing her students improve and begin to love swimming. Her favorite stroke is butterfly.
Sarah has a passion for the water and loves to help others find a passion for swimming as well! She has been a lifelong swimmer, and now participates at her local masters swim team. She has also lots of experience teaching swim lessons and teaches everyone from babies to adulta. She loves helping beginner swimmers find a love for the water while establishing proper technique and having fun at the same time. She further has a passion for working with adult swimmers as she can help adults conquer their fears! Last, because of her extensive experience she can work on technique and endurance with triathletes or anyone who would like to incorporate swimming into their fitness regime. Her goal is to spread her love of swimming to as many people as possible
